Home of the worldwide academik podcast! Now before you get scared because you don’t have an iPod - WAIT UP! A podcast is simply an audio or video newsletter. You sign up to receive it and it is delivered to you automatically whenever a new one is published. This could be daily, weekly, or monthly. With academik this means that you get a great new batch of tunes every Monday morning (Pacific Standard Time).
The address you need to use to sign up is http://feeds.feedburner.com/Academik
There are a number of programs that you can use to listen and subscribe to this podcast:
In the bar of menu words across the top of your iTunes player click Advanced.
Now click ‘Subscribe to Podcast‘.
Now copy and past the link, http://feeds.feedburner.com/Academik, into the box.
Hit Ok!
Now on the left side of your iTunes click Podcasts.
Now double click Academik - this will start playing the latest podcast.
If you click on the grey arrow next to ‘Academik’ it will give you the option to download previous podcasts.
Your iTunes will check automatically if there is a new podcast everytime it starts. That means all you’ve got to do is start up iTunes on Monday and your new podcast will be delivered automatically!
Netvibes - Listen anywhere from over the web!
Who says nothing but wine and cheese comes from France? Netvibes is a great French company that has a website to let you keep track of all the blogs and podcasts that you want - in addition to being able to check mail/weather/photos - pretty much anything you want to keep track of you can do using this site. Go to www.netvibes.com and sign up for an account - it’s free and easy.
Then you’ll see a box in the top left that says ‘Add Content‘, click it.
You’ll see a menu box fill up the left side of the page - these are all the things that you could add to your page - we’re going to start off with the podcast by clicking on ‘Add my feed‘ at the top left again. In the first box that says ‘Enter a URL‘ put in the link
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Academik and then click Add.
Now click the grey arrow next to ‘My Feeds‘ - the third option on the menu at the left.
You should have a page marked Academik - click and drag it onto your main page to the right of the menu
You now have a link to all of the podcasts available - if all of them don’t show, put your mouse over the word Academik in the box and then click ‘Edit‘ to the right; in the edit menu change the number of choices to the max. Once you click on a podcast you’ll get a description and an option to download or listen to it. Choose one and you’re set!
Love this week’s podcast! Thanks for selecting such great songs, don’t think you could’ve pick a better set to represent 90’s alternative. Loved it!
